Jeromy’s 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax/Allison LT 4×4

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

This truck is a 2005 Chevy Silverado, which Jeromy first bought to pull his fifth wheel. Today, he uses it as a daily truck3driver/construction and definitely for PLAY. In March of 2007, Jeromy’s brother, who also happens to be his best friend passed away. A few weeks later, knowing how much his brother loved the Silverado as much as he did, Jeromy decided to rebuild his truck in his brother’s memory after losing the main bearings in the engine at around the same time. Jeromy’s brother was carried to his final resting place in the bed of Jeromy’s Duramax because according to him, that’s what his brother would have wanted. Jeromy spent a year and a half saving up to pay for rebuilding the engine using aftermarket parts. 1600 miles later, he had to fix it the second time around, but now it’s back on the road and as good as new.

He’s got a BMS/Burkhard built engine complete with Howard’s rods, ARP Head Studs, a DPR-HV Oil Pump, a bunch of MPI TwinTurbos, a Suncoast Level 3 Tranny, a 4” straight pipe exhaust, Bobo EFI Live Tuning, Kennedy Diesel Duramax Dual Lift pumps and pickup and SD tie rod sleeves. On the utside, his 2005 Chevy Silverado has been debadged, has Escalade handles, Rhino linings, Westin Nerf Bars and Helo Maxx 8 rims on BF Goodrich All Terrains. While on the inside, it’s got Autometer C2 pyro/boost/oil pressure gauges. Jeromy does all the work needed on his truck except for those involving the engine. Right now, he installed custom license plates in memory of his brother and all that’s left for him to do is add badges made in his brother’smemory and his name painted on his backglass using the ghost paint scheme.

Fitch Fuel Catalyst

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Fitch Fuel CatalystFitch Fuel Catalyst is a device that you can install permanently to your car to improve fuel economy and engine performance, while reducing emissions and engine maintenance all at the same time. Fitch Fuel Catalyst can be used on all types of fuel may it be gas, diesel, bio-diesel, low sulfur diesel, kerosene or oil and individually improves its quality by increasing cetane and lubricity in diesel or octane in gasoline for example, thereby increasing horsepower and torque for maximum engine performance and efficiency. Fitch Fuel Catalyst works by reducing the oxygen, ozone and microorganisms harbouring on your fuel preventing and reversing degradation from storage. This process places fuel in its optimal condition right before it is introduced to the engine, enhancing combustion to guarantee a more powerful, stable and consistent engine performance.

Fitch Fuel Catalyst was created by race car driver, road crash barrier designer and inventor, Mr. John C. Fitch, with a research agreement with the Department of Defense so that normal fuels used by the military will be transformed into superior quality fuels after passing through the Fitch Fuel Catalyst metal alloy. This means extra power, better fuel economy by up to 1 to 2.5 MPG and reduced emissions, as well as lower maintenance costs for the consumer by keeping the injectors, jets and spark plugs cleaner and reducing the carbon deposited in the engine making for less oil changes and extending engine life. Fitch Fuel Catalyst also saves you money by letting you run on a lower octane gas than what is required without sacrificing performance. It is also easy to install by simply bolting it right in under the hood. Moreover, not only is Fitch Fuel Catalyst maintenance-free, but it is also backed with a 250,000 mile warranty delivering better value for your money.

There are varied views about the Fitch Fuel Catalyst. According to http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2006/05/26/008747.html, a study done by the University of Connecticut and published in the American Chemical Society’s Langmuir Journal in November of 2005 concluded that Fitch Fuel Catalyst indeed lowered bacteria in fuel, thus increasing performance and fuel economy. On the other hand, according to http://www.fuelsaving.info/catalysts.htm, the Australian motoring organization NRMA tested the product in February 2008 and noticed no benefit in both emissions or fuel consumption. Fitch Fuel Catalyst enthusiasts argue that a flaw during installation or conditioning may have happened to invalidate the results.

As for the consumers, there are a few sceptics claiming the technology is scientifically impossible and it is just a gimmick because “Catalization of hydrocarbon fuels can only occur with heat and pressure, as well as a storage device to allow particle transfer. Simple tin infusion in no way effects the fuel with any beneficial results.” There is also a user who claimed it only worked for a short time but later made it run poorly. Another user also had a problem with the installation of the product because the kit wasn’t made specifically for his 1995 GMC K1500, although it made his old truck run from 18 MPG to 16 MPG. He said the instructions given were inconsistent with the online version. Someone also claims the clamps holding the rubber hoses to the fittings came lose not long after installation causing fuel to leak everywhere. This left him stranded and ended up buying clamps to hold the device in. Despite this, there were also some supporters at the message boards claiming Fitch Fuel Catalyst actually gave them better fuel mileage and power. A user claimed he got 1 MPG better and more power than before. Another user claimed he has been using the product for the past 4 years on his cruiser and it has helped him save a lot of money on fuel by giving him 8.7 km/gallon instead of 7.4 it previously gave him. Someone also mentioned an episode of a show called Muscle Car wherein Fitch Fuel Catalyst was tested on a Dodge Diesel. He said it gave them a .7 MPG increase over 5-6 tanks of fuel. A user also claimed he installed the product on his Audi and Infiniti and it made him go from a high grade to midgrade fuel with no mileage and performance decrease. He also said the tail pipes “went from dirty carbon to shiny metal in about 5000 miles of Fitch use”, making him believe that the product is really working.

The Diablosport Trinity

DiabloSport T1000 Trinity Programmer T1000 DiabloSport T1000 Trinity ProgrammerDiablosport, the same company that brought you one of the originial hand held programmers has just released the "Trinity". Here is a little bit of information about the Diablosport Trinity...

The Diablosport Trinity is a dream come true hosting a multitude of abilities that can be enjoyed by the novice as well as the most technical. Diablosport Trinity has several uses in one, it can be used as a gauge monitor virtually, able to diagnose codes and then read these codes, and even can program your vehicle for performance. The Trinity is a cut above the competition with its color screen with sensitive touch controls, gauges able to be tweaked to suit each individual's needs, and the ability to reprogram. It boasts a sleek, beautifully stylish look while offering ease of use.

Diablosport Trinity offers a virtual gauge monitor: This is a highly evolved tuning unit that has approximately 100mb of memory allotted to recording and replaying PID/DMR data for diagnostic use. This allows users to have data from several hours straight from the Powertrain Control Module. It can take this information that is in code and put it into a format that is understandable to the average person. You're able to customize this to suit individual needs which are some of the great selling features for this product.

Diablosport Trinity has a unique programmer for performance, which allows you to tune your vehicle based on whether you have diesel or octane based vehicle. Such tuning included in the diesel line would be for towing which would increase the towing ability and helps increase the fuel economy and drivability. In a diesel it can actually add somewhere between 60 - 100hp while giving an average of 2-3.2 miles per gallon more on highway. For extreme usage on a diesel you can expect 100-184hp, but be sure that this is for short burst ability. Tuning included in the gas / octane line would be somewhere around the 15-41 hp when you make sure that you're tuning appropriate to the octane needed. Ex: If tuning for 89 octane's make sure you purchase 89 octane gases.

This all in one tool is the new way to take control of your vehicle while being sure that you are getting all that you can from your investment.
